Though Far infrared light 730nm is little significance for photosynthesis, but its intensity and ratio to 66nm deep red light play an important role in plants height, internode length and other morphologies.

Wavelength less 380nm called UV light. According to the physical and biological properties of ultraviolet light, wavelength 320-380nm called UVA light, 280-320nm called UVB light, 100-280nm called UVC light.The UV light species that reach the ground 95% are UVA light. 


In photosynthetically active radiation, UV and far red light in the solar spectrum have regulatory functions on plant growth. UV radiation reduces plant leaf area, inhibits hypocotyl elongation, reduces photosynthesis and productivity, making plants vulnerable to pathogen attack, but can induce flavonoid synthesis and defense mechanisms.

Can use LED light for growing plant indoor ?

Yes, in winter, shine light is not enough, farmers will use LED light for growing plant indoor, LED light is environmentally friendly, no harmful substance of mercury.

Normal LED lights are no useless for raising succulents, but LED supplement light can be used for raising succulents.

Need to pay attention to some points as blow when using LED supplement light:

LED Supplement light can only be sued as temporary supplement light, can not completely replace sunlight.

LED supplement light can only use in short term ( less 2 months in hard year), when natural light is not enough.

The common red and blue LED plant supplement light is similar to scattering light, and has little effect on the growth of succulents.

 Can LED lamp be used  on plant as LED grow light ? No. Common LED lamp is only white spectrum, no other color light spectrum, can not make plant grow better.

Effects of LED lights on plants.

1. In visible light, red & orange light ( wavelength of 600-700nm) and blue & purple light ( 400-500nm) are the most light absorbed by green plants.

2. Blue light is the necessary supplementary light when red light is used for plants, light intensity biological dosage is second only to red light.




Blue light restrains the elongation of stem,promote chlorophyll synthesis, beneficial to the synthesis of anthioxidant substances. Blue light affects plant phototropism, light morphogenesis, stomatal opening and leaf photosynthesis. Green , red and blue lights can adjust the growth in harmoniously. Generally , under red and blue LED composite light working, the plant is slightly purplish gray, which makes the disease and disorder symptoms difficult to diagnose. But it can be solved by adding a few green light.


The effect of green light and blue light are usually opposites, for example green light can reverse the stomatal opening which is promoted by blue light. Yellow , orange, green and purple lights are all important photosynthetically active radiation, but they are few requested by plants. Add yellow light to red and blue lights , which can dramatically improve spinach growth.

Yellow light has the best effect on improving nutrition to lettuce, but blue light is better to increase the contents of mineral elements to lettuce.

Add some yellow light and violet light can improve the photosynthetic capacity of cherry and tomato seedings. Relieve the low light stress of red and blue lights. Compare to white light, violet and blue light increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes, delay aging effects on plant, but red, green and yellow light inhibit the activity of antioxidant enzymes, accelerate the aging process of the plant.
