UV LED is widly applicated in sterilisation, such as drinking water purification, biosensing and medical devices.
Because some useful properties of ultraviolet
light with wavelength between 200 nm and 280nm which call UVC band.
1.UVC light sterilises bacteria, viruses and fungi so it can be used in appliances for chemical-free disinfection of surfaces, air or water such as point-of-use drinking water sterilisers, air-conditioning systems and medical systems.
2. UVC light can initiate photocatalytic reactions which break down organic pollutants,such as pesticide residues in water. This decontamination
function could be used in point-ofuse drinking water purifiers.
3.UVC light is strongly absorbed by most biological and chemical compounds and it induces fluorescence (re-emission of light with a longer wavelength) which can be characteristic of the fluorescing compound. That mean UVC light sources are very effective in fluorescence sensors to detect chemicals or bacteria in air or in water.
